South Africa Premium Sharon Fruit™ Triumph Sweet Persimmons
Grade: 1
weighs approx 500gms per box
Sharon Fruit™ Persimmons: The Sweetest Things! It's grown in the Sharon Plain in Israel, which gives it its name.
Sharon Fruit™ (also known as Persimmon, kaki or diospyros) can be eaten similarly to a Fuyu Persimmon. The fruit looks like an orange tomato and tastes like a cross between a mango and a pumpkin. It can be eaten like a plum and makes a delicious snack eaten whole straight from the fruit bowl. It has a high sugar content, which means it lends itself to being frozen, making it a great option for smoothies or future baking projects.
The popular non-astringent Persimmon hailing from Japan is short and wide like a tomato and can be eaten like an apple when firm, skin and all.
This fruit is extremely rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants – as well as low in fat and high in fibre – and therefore chock-full of health benefits that include being good for your heart. The seedless and juicy flesh is ideal for children, and the fruit can be eaten whole or cut into wedges. Also, it is important to note that the brown speckles that appear occasionally on the fruits’ skin are natural sugar freckles that indicate extra sweetness.
