The English words for Chiku are sapodilla, noseberry, and mudapples.
Chiku has smooth-skinned and is coated with sandy brown skin in an oval shape. The flesh is a pale brown colour and has a sweet, smooth, soft and juicy flavour. The sweet taste of Chiku comes from fructose and sucrose. It is also a good source of dietary fibre. The flesh of Chiku are antioxidants and have antiviral, antibacterial and anti-parasitic effects. It tastes great by eaten fresh, halved with seeds removed and scooping out the flesh. Some of the Chiku are seedless, but normally there may be from 3 to 12 seeds which are easily removed as they are loosely held in a whorl of slots in the centre of the fruit 😋👍🏻👍🏻
