Premium Grade

Size: 12s

weighs approx 5 KGS with 12 Premium Pieces per Gift Box. Exceptionally sweet, Sumo Citrus is derived from Satsuma, Orange, and Mandarin. Generally known as the Shiranui variety in Japan, it was nicknamed the “dekopon” in reference to its uneven skin, and its distinctive Top Knot.

Sumo Oranges are in season right now. What makes them so special and expensive?

The Sumo Citrus fruit is only available for four months a year: between January and April. "Because the Sumo tree has to be cared for so particularly, growers can only pick the fruit during a particular time of year to ensure it's ripe and sweet to their standards.

Why is Sumo Citrus more expensive than average oranges? Sumo Citrus is easy to love but is the most difficult citrus to grow! It takes four years of constant love and care before a Sumo Citrus tree produces fruit. Each tree is carefully groomed by hand every year and then hand-picked and hand-packed.

According to Suntreat, the U.S. fruit producer, Sumo Citrus Oranges are a “ dekopon ”— a cross-breed between a satsuma and mandarin-pomelo variety. The juicy, ultra-sweet oranges were developed in Japan with traditional plant-breeding techniques (so they are non-GMO), where they are often given as gifts.

As a perfect, healthy snack, either at home or on the go, each Sumo Citrus packs 163% of the recommended Daily Value for immune and skin-supporting vitamin C, and 10% for potassium along with 3g of dietary fibre and 3 grams of protein, which help to keep you feeling fuller longer.

One Sumo Citrus is the equivalent of eating a few mandarin oranges, so you will get a healthy serving of fibre, calcium and vitamin C delivered in one fruit. Sumo Citrus are also low in acidity, which makes them a good choice for people who can't tolerate a higher level of acid in fruit 🍊🤤👍🏻
